The Lounge Vet Berkhamsted

Once your appointment has been confirmed, please contact us with any specific needs you or your pet have, so that we can prepare and accommodate you as much as possible. Let us know if your pet is particularly anxious or can become aggressive when afraid.

Tell us if there are likely to be parking issues outside your home (our van is large) so we can plan our visit accordingly.

If you have a cat, please ensure he or she is securely placed within a comfortable cat carrier just before your appointment time. Top opening carriers are easier for your cat to be lifted out. Placing familiar bedding inside and covering the carrier with a towel or blanket will help keep them calm. Spraying the carrier with a pheromone product such as Feliway can also reduce anxiety. If your cat panics, wrap them in a thick blanket and put both into the carrier.

Usually, examinations are most effectively performed within the mobile clinic itself, where we have all the required space and equipment, so please be prepared to accompany your pet into our van. The exception to this is of course euthanasia, which can be performed in the animal’s most comfortable resting place.

We understand that losing a pet can be traumatic. If desired, we would encourage you to talk to us prior to booking a euthanasia appointment, so that we can, if necessary, support you through your decision.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR VISIT

IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY

We have an arrangement with Hampden Vets in Aylesbury who will attend to your pets out-of-hours at their highly equipped, dedicated emergency practice should this be necessary. If you are unsure, please contact our triage service Vidivet, where you will be able to communicate directly with a vet to obtain the appropriate advice.
